The Swimming Pool Action Group
We thought SWAG Had DONE IT!!!
Fundraising had been very successful. Thanks to the people of Biggin Hill, Bromley Council, Biggin Hill Airport for £2000 and a contribution from Biggin Hill Juniors. Which has brought us to £24,000. BUT it has all gone horribly wrong and people have been given their money back!
BUT WAS IT NECESSARY WHEN THERE IS ALREADY A SWIMMING POOL AT BIGGIN HILL
What was SWAG?
SWAG was a local community fundraising group formed to support the development of a community swimming pool in Biggin Hill at Darwin Leisure Centre. We are all residents in Biggin Hill many with children from Charles Darwin School, we have longed for a pool here in the community and there was the chance to make this dream a reality.
People in the community have campaigned many times over a period of 10 years for a pool and now the London Borough of Bromley have promised £250,000 to build the pool and the ongoing running costs. The total cost of the project is estimated at £800,000
SWAG have contacting businesses in the local area and wish to thank all those that have supported them in raising the funds and as a thank you for those who donated to this cause they were going to name every company as a founder sponsor in the reception area of the new pool. Darwin leisure centre has over 60,000 attendees’ per year, which of cause is likely to double with the introduction of a pool, receiving tremendous support from the community.
What your money was going to provide
A indoor 20 metre by 8 metre pool
New changing facilities (including a family changing village)

As well as recreational swimming it will offer:
